We are delighted to represent a highly successful London market risk carrier seeking an experienced underwriter to lead their renewable energy portfolio. As leaders in the industry, they are committed to supporting the transition to renewable energy by providing innovative insurance solutions for a greener future. This organisation is currently seeking a highly skilled and passionate individual to be a key part of the Underwriting Division.

As the Head of Renewable Energy Underwriting, you will be responsible for leading the development and management of underwriting strategies specific to renewable energy projects. You will work closely with key stakeholders to assess and mitigate risks while enabling the growth of renewable energy initiatives globally. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of renewable energy markets and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the underwriting strategy and risk assessment for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, hydro, and emerging technologies.
  • Develop tailored insurance solutions to meet the unique needs of renewable energy clients.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry players, brokers, and clients.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the integration of renewable energy initiatives into the broader insurance portfolio.
  • Monitor and analyse industry trends, regulations, and innovations to ensure the company's underwriting practices remain competitive and forward-thinking.
  • Provide expert guidance on renewable energy risk management, pricing, and underwriting standards.
  • Drive thought leadership within the renewable energy sector, representing the company at industry events and conferences.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Extensive experience in insurance underwriting, with a focus on renewable energy or environmental sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of renewable energy technologies, risk profiles, and market dynamics.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and inspire a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a strategic approach to risk management.
  • Relevant qualifications in insurance, finance, or renewable energy sectors (e.g., ACII, Associate or Fellow of the Institute of Risk Management).
  • Passion for sustainability and a desire to make a positive impact on the renewable energy transition.
