Senior Electronics Engineer

Closing Date: 23rd April 2025

Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston.

Package: £47,690 - £72,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

A relocation package may be available (terms and conditions apply).

Explore this exciting opportunity for a Senior Electronics Engineer at AWE, where you can leverage your expertise in electronics hardware design and firmware.

Specialise in crafting innovative, low-powered sensor-based systems within a dynamic R&D environment.

As a Senior Electronics Engineer within our Warhead Engineering group, you will play a vital part in supporting the team to develop hardware designs from concept to prototype demonstration.

  1. Defining and implementing technical strategies for core programmes.
  2. Designing, building and testing novel solutions to solve technical challenges in a security-based framework.
  3. Understanding of low power components utilising MSP/STM platforms.
  4. Leading design teams in the design and development of products to time and cost.
  5. Utilising experience in SPICE simulation and ECAD tools to deliver hardware at all life cycle phases from 'cradle to grave'.
  6. Support integration of products into wider systems.
  7. Safeguarding our nation by ensuring our deterrent is credible, effective and safe, today and into the future.

Who are we looking for?

We do need you to have the following:

A degree qualification and/or extensive experience in electronic engineering, working in a similar environment.

Experience in the following:

  1. Electronics design (one or more of the following: analogue, digital, battery/low power)
  2. Embedded software development (C / C++ / C#)
  3. ECAD
  4. Interface management
  5. Stakeholder engagement

Strong communication skills.

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:

  1. Knowledge or experience in electronic design simulation tools (Pspice/LTspice).
  2. System engineering and architecture definition.
  3. There is also collaboration with our US colleagues, and therefore a candidate who is open to travel is desirable.

You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
