What is the point of this role?

The successful candidate will fill a key role supporting ANS infrastructure. They will be responsible for ensuring service availability of critical components that make up ANS Platforms. They will work with the wider infrastructure team to keep the environment up to date via patching schedules and firmware upgrades and liaise with vendors across the stack to ensure interoperability and support.

The successful candidate would be expected to act as an escalation point within the cloud infrastructure team providing expertise in VMWare vSphere, VMWare NSX, Veeam, Nimble/3par/StoreOnce storage arrays and UCS Cloud computing architecture. They will work closely with the Senior Infrastructure Engineers and Architects to implement our product roadmap and continual improvement program.

What will I be doing?

  1. Provide 3rd line support to the eCloud platform working as an escalation point for the support team.
  2. Perform platform auditing and review tasks.
  3. Monitor systems and identify performance issues proactively.
  4. Work with other technical teams to provide industry-leading support to our customers.
  5. Define processes and create detailed documentation.
  6. Assist with capacity management and platform growth.
  7. Maintain good interdepartmental relationships with other technical and commercial teams through regular interaction and collaboration.
  8. Ensure our infrastructure is up to date by performing patching and firmware upgrades.
  9. Work with vendors to raise escalations and troubleshoot issues.
  10. Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
  11. Limited volumes of out-of-hours work assisting with projects on core systems outside of core business hours.
  12. Assist senior engineers with project implementation.
  13. Deliver working within ANS change control, CAB and incident management.

What will I bring to the role?

  1. Previous experience as an infrastructure engineer working in an enterprise or multi-tenant environment.
  2. Experience with VMware 6.7 and 7.0.
  3. Experience with SAN Storage Technologies (3par, Nimble, Netapp, Dell Compellent) beneficial.
  4. Understanding of fundamental computer architecture, networking, virtualization, storage and operating system concepts.
  5. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  6. Operational experience with NSX 3.0+ desirable.
  7. Ability to produce good quality documentation.
  8. Scripting abilities in Powershell and PowerCLI.
  9. Can-do attitude.
  10. Willingness to be on call.
