Job Description

An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for an Advocacy Worker to join our ASSIST Service on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2027, based on Scottish Government funding.

Position Details

Established in 2004, ASSIST (Advocacy Support Safety Information Services Together) is a specialist domestic abuse court advocacy service that supports people whose partner, or ex-partner, has a domestic abuse case going through the criminal court. Whilst part of Glasgow City Council, ASSIST support people in Argyll and Bute, Ayrshire (East, North, and South), Dumfries and Galloway, Glasgow, Dunbartonshire (East and West), Inverclyde, Lanarkshire, and Renfrewshire (including East Renfrewshire).

Our Advocacy Workers provide a sensitive, pro-active short to medium term advocacy, support, and information service, primarily by telephone, to victims/survivors of domestic abuse who are referred to ASSIST, focussing on those most at risk.

Further details regarding what this role entails are noted within the Job Description for the post, whilst the Person Specification document confirms the key competencies you are required to demonstrate in your application.

Minimum Requirements

An SCQF Level 7 qualification in a relevant field (domestic abuse, violence against women, social care, counselling, advocacy, social services, etc.) or a demonstratable proven track record of providing direct support to vulnerable individuals in crisis intervention is an essential requirement for this role. Having completed IDAA training is desirable.

Contract Details

Weekly Hours: 35

Work Pattern: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm inclusive of a 1-hour unpaid break

Annual Salary: £36,488.30 - £43,855.41 on an incremental scale

This is a peripatetic role and could be based across any of the locations from which ASSIST deliver a service.
