Data Science Actuary – Graduate Opportunity

We are seeking an ambitious and talented Graduate to join a leading Insurer in Manchester. This presents an exciting opportunity for an individual eager to combine actuarial knowledge with data science skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Role Overview: As a Data Science Actuary Graduate, you will work closely with the actuarial and data science teams to develop innovative analytical models and solutions for pricing, risk management, and business strategy. You will gain valuable experience in the application of data science techniques within the actuarial field, helping us to optimize our products and services for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with senior actuaries and data scientists to analyse and interpret large datasets, applying advanced statistical methods and machine learning algorithms.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of predictive models to enhance decision-making in pricing, risk assessment, and claims forecasting.
  • Conduct actuarial analysis using traditional methods and modern data science techniques to support pricing and risk management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver insights that drive strategic decisions across the business.
  • Participate in the preparation of reports and presentations that communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve modelling techniques by staying updated with the latest trends in actuarial science, machine learning, and data science.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Recent graduate or soon-to-be graduate with a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL, with experience in data manipulation and analysis.
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and techniques (e.g., regression models, classification, clustering).
  • Solid foundation in statistics and probability, with an interest in applying these skills to real-world problems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • A team player with a passion for learning and developing within the data science and actuarial fields.
