Iconic Resourcing are delighted to be working on an exciting opportunity for an experienced Director of People to join one of our clients, a prominent public sector organisation.

This pivotal leadership role offers the chance to shape the strategic direction of people-related functions within a forward-thinking organisation, fostering an inclusive, high-performing workforce and driving transformational change.

As Director of People, you will work closely with senior leaders to align people strategies with organisational objectives, ensure compliance with legislative frameworks, and champion values of fairness, diversity, and wellbeing. At a time of significant public service reform, this role offers an exceptional platform to influence strategic initiatives and deliver meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee workforce planning, talent management, and employee relations, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
  • Drive initiatives to improve engagement, leadership development, and wellbeing across the organisation.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop innovative approaches to emerging workforce challenges.
  • Champion diversity, equality, and inclusion, embedding these principles into all organisational practices and policies.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, leveraging data-driven insights to shape strategic decision-making.
  • Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships across the public sector, government bodies, and local authorities.
  • Provide vision and leadership during transformational change, ensuring the organisation remains agile and resilient.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven senior leadership experience in human resources and organisational development.
  • Strong expertise in employment law, HR best practice, and workforce planning.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cultural change and embedding inclusive practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • CIPD Level 7 or equivalent qualification (essential); a relevant masters' degree is desirable.
  • A strategic thinker with a track record of delivering impactful results in complex environments.
  • Experience of managing relationships with external stakeholders, such as trade unions, government bodies, and local authorities.
  • Public sector experience is advantageous.

To apply for this role, please send your CV or contact Emma Pringle at Iconic Resourcing for a confidential chat and further details. At Iconic Resourcing, we understand that not all candidates will meet every single desired qualification or skill for the job positions posted on behalf of our clients.
