- Drive process improvements, including automation of compliance and ensuring best use of existing or new technology solutions where possible and appropriate.
- Perform root cause analysis for any errors and then mitigate this cause. This may include designing or amending systems or processes and/or providing training to colleagues.
- Supporting with tax audits, correspondence, and notices from tax authorities.
- Reviewing changes in the legislation on tax matters to ensure the business correctly reports taxes.
- Understand the structure of the business in the region and work with the tax team to advise and educate commercial and support colleagues on tax matters.
- Contribute tax comments as part of any overall tax advice provided to stakeholders, e.g. in respect of taxes on system improvements/acquisitions & new entities.
- To work with a significant degree of autonomy, subject to briefing the Tax Manager on all significant tax issues as they arise.
- To manage risk by maintaining good working relationships with tax authorities and by keeping close links with the business to identify at an early stage any areas of concern.
- Advise and partner with relevant stakeholders on tax matters (e.g. accounting, GIS, commercial, supply chain, trade compliance, etc).
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with SAP (or equivalent ERP system) preferred.
- Good experience of computation preparation; experience using software such as OneSource or Alphatax preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail required.
- Strong knowledge of current CT and VAT laws; must maintain current knowledge of all tax laws affecting the company.
- Must be capable of analysing large quantities of data, particularly in Spreadsheets.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required.
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or related field desired.
- Accounting or tax part or fully qualified desired.
- Demonstrable tax experience (preferably in a high growth environment and/or biotechnology or pharmaceuticals).
