We're looking for a Head of UX/UI to join our team to lead and inspire our design team and craft innovative, user-centric experiences. You'll drive the strategy, design, and execution of user experience, ensuring that Yoto's products delight both kids and parents.

Yoto is a screen-free interactive audio platform for kids. We make carefully connected audio players that kids control, with no microphones, cameras or ads. We have a catalogue of audio that inspires creative play and learning with 1,000+ titles in our card store from top creators, publishers and labels - think Disney, Marvel, Roald Dahl and Universal Music. We also create Yoto Originals like this one.

Yoto's Design Team

We're a small but mighty, cross-functional product design team, crafting beautiful, engaging experiences for our customers. We encourage everyone to share their thoughts and foster healthy collaboration. Egos take a backseat and everyone pitches in to help each other succeed.

What you'll be doing:

• Define and drive Yoto's UX/UI strategy, ensuring a cohesive vision across digital products, mobile apps, web, and physical devices.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the UX/UI team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
• Shape and scale Yoto's design function, identifying skill gaps, structuring the team for success, and ensuring high performance.
• Set clear priorities and align design initiatives with business goals, balancing user needs with commercial and technical considerations.
• Partner with product, engineering, and data teams, ensuring user experience is embedded into the entire development lifecycle.
• Champion user research and usability testing, ensuring insights drive data-led, user-centric design decisions.
• Provide strategic oversight on design systems, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and scalability across all platforms.
• Advocate for accessibility and inclusivity, embedding best practices to create intuitive experiences for diverse audiences.
• Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, guiding innovation to elevate Yoto's design approach.
• Foster strong cross-functional relationships, ensuring seamless collaboration between design, product, engineering, content, and marketing teams.

What you'll bring:

• Proven leadership in UX/UI within consumer-facing digital products, mobile apps, and multi-platform environments.
• Experience scaling and evolving design teams, with a track record of mentoring and developing talent.
• Deep expertise in design systems, ensuring high-quality, consistent experiences while partnering closely with engineering teams.
• Strong strategic thinking, balancing high-level vision with the ability to guide execution through others.
• A data-driven approach to UX/UI, leveraging user research and analytics to inform decision-making.
• Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments, influencing and advocating for design at the leadership level.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills, ensuring design thinking is embedded across the business.

Nice to have:

• A background in high volume content platforms and/or marketplaces, with content discovery experience (incl. curation, personalisation, recommendations, advanced search and filtering).
• Experience in e-commerce, web/desktop and mobile.
• Experience working with connected physical devices.

Salary: £90,000 - £110,000 based on experience

What you can expect from Yoto:

• Flexibility: Hybrid working with a choice based approach - we would love you to come into the office as much as possible, with a minimum of once a week. Take advantage of our 'work from anywhere' policy to work from a different location for up to 6 weeks every year. Summer Hours policy to use between the months of June and August.
