Bridgwater, Somerset, United Kingdom TN United Kingdom Full time

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project?

The Opportunity

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is at the forefront of nuclear power innovation, responsible for designing and delivering the nuclear island for major projects like Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC).

In particular, EDF EPR Engineering UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.

At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a starting salary between £54,000 and £60,000 (negotiable depending on experience), bonus and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We're talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone's welcome. We're on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We'd like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We're a disability confident employer and we'll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That's why we support you to pursue a career that's unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will be responsible for managing mechanical calculations, including plates and electrical supports, and supporting the team on complex technical issues.

Your expertise will be essential in addressing field events such as clarification requests, adaptation requests, change requests, non-conformances, and open points.

You will play a key role in ensuring the integrity and continuity of the design, reviewing and updating deliverables, and coordinating with back-office teams to find effective solutions.

Your ability to challenge input data, maintain consistency in design modifications, and uphold the interests of the Responsible Designer will be critical to the success of the project.

Beyond day-to-day responsibilities, you will contribute to the development of the Electrical discipline within the JDO by fostering strong relationships with back-office teams in Bristol, Paris, and Tours. Your technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities will be instrumental in driving innovation and improvements, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Who you are

You will have a background in Mechanical Engineering or something similar, along with excellent interpersonal skills, and organisational abilities.

Knowledge of VerifPlatines, the RCC-E code, and experience with 2D and 3D design software would be advantageous.

Additionally, fluency in French, prior field experience, and familiarity with the HPC project or previous EPR studies would be beneficial.

Ideally, you will have the ability to manage multiple interfaces, prioritise tasks effectively, and work seamlessly in a multicultural environment.

Apply today and join us in helping Britain achieve Net Zero.

Closing date for applications: Monday 7th April.
