Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented Agile Content Designer who will work collaboratively within Agile teams to deliver clear, concise, and user-centered content. The ideal candidate will have experience working within cross-functional teams to create digital content that meets user needs, aligns with business goals, and supports overall service delivery. The role requires a strong understanding of Agile methodologies, content design principles, and user experience (UX) practices. Experience working on public sector and central government projects, with a deep understanding of Government Digital Service (GDS) principles and standards, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation & Design: Develop, design, and iterate content across digital products and services to ensure it meets user needs.
  • User-Centered Content: Collaborate with UX designers, researchers, and product owners to ensure that content is intuitive, user-focused, and accessible.
  • Agile Delivery: Participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., stand-ups, retrospectives, sprint planning) to help teams iterate and improve content rapidly.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with stakeholders across departments to ensure alignment on content strategy and project objectives.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Prototype content, test with real users, and iterate based on feedback and analytics.
  • Content Strategy: Contribute to content strategy development, ensuring consistency across all platforms and channels.
  • GDS & Public Sector Alignment: Ensure all content aligns with GDS principles, including GOV.UK style guides and accessibility standards.
  • Standards & Guidelines: Ensure all content adheres to style guides, accessibility standards (WCAG), and best practices.
  • Performance Analysis: Use data and analytics to assess the effectiveness of content and make informed decisions for improvement.

Skills & Experience:

  • Agile Methodologies: Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and experience working within Agile teams.
  • Content Design & UX: Proven experience in content design, with a focus on user-centered design and UX writing.
  • Public Sector & Central Government Experience: Strong experience working on projects for government departments, aligning content with GDS principles and meeting service standards.
  • Research & Testing: Experience conducting or collaborating on user research, A/B testing, and usability testing.
  • Collaboration: Strong ability to work in cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, and product owners.
  • Tools & Software: Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch), and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present content solutions clearly and persuasively to stakeholders.
  • Accessibility: Understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and a commitment to creating inclusive content.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to use data to inform content design decisions, with an emphasis on continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience in a digital, UX, or content design role within an Agile environment.
  • Certifications in Agile (Scrum Master, SAFe, etc.) or UX design are advantageous.
