Our Technology department of around 300 employees works largely in an agile way using a Scrumban approach and covers areas such as Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Operations, Process and Governance, Software Development and Architecture. We are particularly proud to develop almost all of our applications in-house, which gives us unique flexibility and innovative strength. Our tech stack includes modern technologies such as Java, Kotlin, TypeScript and Python, CI/CD pipelines, containers, Kubernetes as well as Azure Cloud, Azure SQL Database and Oracle Database with PL/SQL.

Your Role in the team.

Berenberg is seeking a skilled Cyber Security Architect to design, implement, and maintain robust security solutions to protect our systems and data from evolving cyber threats. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cybersecurity architecture, including network, endpoint, data, application security, and an understanding of the financial industry's unique security challenges. This role also includes ensuring business continuity and integrating security into the enterprise architecture.

What will you do?

  1. Design and implement advanced security solutions to safeguard systems and data.
  2. Conduct regular threat analyses and assess infrastructure for vulnerabilities.
  3. Develop and maintain security frameworks, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align cybersecurity strategy with business goals.
  5. Stay updated on the latest cybercrime trends and emerging technologies.
  6. Provide guidance on cybersecurity best practices and risk management.
  7. Lead security initiatives and projects, ensuring timely and effective implementation.
  8. Develop and implement business continuity plans to ensure the organisation can quickly recover from any disruptions.
  9. Work closely with enterprise architects and engineering teams.

Who are we looking for?

  1. Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar cyber security architecture role, with 3+ years of experience in cyber security design and technical evaluation and assessment. Expertise with industry standard frameworks (NIST, PCI, Safe Harbor, ISO, HIPAA, CSF, Sarbanes Oxley and DORA)
  2. Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are highly desirable.
  3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in using SIEM tools, specifically Splunk, IDS/IPS, Next Gen firewalls, security protocols including SSL, HTTPS, SSH, PGP, PKI, and/or Kerberos.
  4. Strong understanding of network protocols, attack methodologies, and defensive strategies.
  5. Experience designing and implementing technical solutions for network security, including using Next Gen firewalls, IDS and IPS, proxy services, network access controls, encryption technologies.
  6. Cloud Services: Experience and understanding of cloud services including cloud security for the likes of Azure, Google Cloud, and AWS.
  7. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  8. Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  9. Team Player: Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to security.
  10. Operational experience of working with security and network operations teams.
