Infrastructure Manager – London – Hertfordshire – Bedfordshire – Buckinghamshire - Berkshire - Cambridgeshire – Oxfordshire – Permanent - £40,000-£55,000

Our client, a UK based end-user, is seeking an Infrastructure Manager to oversee all of the group's infrastructure. You will assist the desktop support team and provide day-to-day management support to the Head of IT, covering a spectrum of skills from hardware and networking to online resources.

The successful candidate will have ideally 3 years' experience working in a similar infrastructure role, ideally in a retail or multi-site environment. You will be required to be in their office 1-2 days a week in Hertfordshire.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • 3 years previous experience in a similar infrastructure-oriented role, ideally in a retail or multi-site environment.
  • Strong communication skills, able to describe issues in a non-technical way to other staff members and senior management.
  • Good knowledge of Windows server, Office365, and related services.
  • Experience with hardware, patch panels, switches, and routers.
  • Experience in configuring firewalls and network topologies of a multi-site organisation.
  • Full clean UK driving license and willingness to use own car when necessary.
  • Experience with Azure and AWS preferred.
  • DBS Security Check required.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Taking the lead on all infrastructure matters, liaising with suppliers while maintaining a hands-on approach.
  • Maintaining high levels of supportability by applying standards and commonality across all sites regarding equipment and configuration.
  • Reviewing changing needs, researching technology, and evaluating suppliers as necessary. Creating proposals for review with the Head of IT.
  • Coordinating with the Desktop support analyst(s), scheduling work and overseeing deliverables, assisting and covering 1st/2nd level support when required.
  • Hands-on maintenance and configuration of IAAS services such as Azure and AWS.
  • Hands-on support and configuration of various switches, routers, and firewalls with the support of our MSP.
  • Providing a point of escalation for infrastructure incidents as appropriate.
  • Liaising with third-party suppliers to ensure quality of service and manage issue resolution.
  • Overseeing licensing to ensure The Stevenson Group is never under or over licensed for any particular product, especially subscription services.
  • Maintaining adequate business continuity posture covering network security and backup procedures.
  • Ensuring department documentation is maintained and that equipment is recorded, protected, and fit for purpose.
