An interesting opportunity has presented itself within one of the UK's largest Independent Software Based Organisations who are one of a major driving forces behind Innovative Development of Enterprise-Led Internet Technology.
Role Overview:
As a Senior SOC Analyst, you will focus on Technical Information Security within the Security Function, as part of the Organisation's Overall Cyber Incident Management Process. You will work closely with the InfoSec Engineering Team within the Security Department to define requirements of the tools and onboard new functionality. You will also collaborate with colleagues in the Governance & Compliance Functions to ensure appropriate usage of data.
As a Senior SOC Analyst, you will use leading, enterprise-led tools and take responsibility for tuning and maintaining security platforms to deliver the best capability to other Information Security Analysts, SOC Analysts, and clients in identifying and delivering threat and vulnerability management. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert and escalation point for other SOC Analysts, working closely with both the Senior Security Operations Manager and the Senior Security Analysts.
Key Responsibilities of Senior SOC Analyst role would include the following:
- Supporting a team of SOC Analysts and Senior SOC Analysts
- Responding to complex security incidents and providing technical guidance to Security and Senior Security Analysts
- Conducting investigations and root cause analysis to determine the scope and impact of security incidents
- Collaborating with other Security Teams to resolve complex security incidents and providing updates to stakeholders
- Developing and maintaining security tools and technologies to enhance SOC ability to detect and respond to security incidents
- Developing and maintaining security procedures and guidelines to ensure consistent and effective security incident response
- Continuously monitoring and reviewing client's security posture and recommending improvements
- Providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring to SOC Analysts and Security Analysts
- Ensuring compliance with security policies and procedures
- Managing escalations and coordinating with other teams when required
Key Skills & Experience Required for Senior SOC Analyst role will include:
- Strong experience in Security Operations or a related Information Security role
- Ideally, leadership or management experience
- Strong understanding of Information Security principles and technologies
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Commercial awareness and ideally experience of PCI DSS (Current Version)
- Knowledge of security tools and technologies such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and Firewalls
- Knowledge of security incidents and attack methodologies
- Experience with incident response procedures and investigations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills
- Strong team player
- Ideally familiarity with industry standard security frameworks such as ISO 27001 or SOC2
- Understanding of common network protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
