Amazon Web Services is looking for a Sr. HR Business Partner who can drive the development and implementation of the people strategy in support of our AWS SMGS (Sales, Marketing & Global Services) business in Japan. In this position, you will partner with various business leaders along with their respective leadership teams to develop and execute Organizational and HR strategies that foster growth, drive results and increase organizational effectiveness. You must be able to understand business priorities and translate them into a people agenda that supports the business. You will also be responsible for implementing annual HR programs such as performance reviews, promotions, compensation planning and succession planning, working closely with AWS business leaders and HR COEs to build people capability in the AWS SMGS org.


We are looking for a Human Resource professional who has the ability to diagnose issues, use data and insights to develop appropriate solutions and influence outcomes. You must be able to interface effectively with senior stakeholders, peers and employees at all levels of the organization. You will need strategic thinking, business acumen, excellent communication and influencing skills, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to think and plan for the long term.


Key job responsibilities
  1. Apply business knowledge to work with management to develop and drive organization and people strategies, solutions and plans.
  2. Partner with business on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, talent management and competency development to optimize for business objectives.
  3. Set HR strategy and goals, integrating HR/Amazon organization wide-priorities.
  4. Partner with the business to lead both annual and mid-year review processes which focus on talent development and performance management.
  5. Provide management coaching to business leaders, and help drive leader/manager onboarding in line with Amazon’s Leadership Principles.
  6. Assess business’ people enablement needs and facilitate sessions as appropriate.
  7. Review and analyze business and people metrics including data on retention and builder experience in order to recommend systemic improvements.
  8. Provide compensation counsel and support including compensation planning, promotions and job leveling.
  9. Work with leaders, managers and builders to address various types of builder relations issues, fairly representing all interests.
  10. Liaise with PXT COEs to build and drive people agenda, and implement policy and practices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's Degree or certification in Human Resources Management or related field.
  2. At least 10 years of experience in a HRBP role.
  3. Broad knowledge and experience in human resource management.
  4. Experience partnering with multiple business leaders in a complex and fast-paced business setting which is in high growth mode.
  5. Strong business partnering skills and HR and business acumen, including problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities, coaching skills, project management abilities.
  6. Experience and knowledge of Japan labor laws and contexts.
  7. Language: Business Proficiency in Japanese & English.

  3. Team building and team development capabilities.
  4. Change management capabilities.
  5. Ability to influence and partner with different levels of the organization and across countries to achieve results.
  6. Ability to work independently.
  7. Excellent communication (verbal, written and listening) and presentation skills.
