SunburyonThames, Surrey, United Kingdom FT Technologies Ltd Full time
Quality at the heart of everything we do.

At FT Technologies, we don't just make wind sensors. We invent, engineer, and evolve them.

We are a market-leading SME headquartered in Surrey, with an innovation hub in Madrid, specialising in the design and manufacture of ultrasonic wind sensors, also known as anemometers or airflow sensors. What makes our products exceptional is our patented use of acoustic resonance, allowing us to produce innovative and technologically advanced sensors to measure wind speed, direction, and temperature with unmatched durability, even in the harshest environments.

We are a company driven by curiosity, creativity, and a commitment to a greener planet. As the wind energy sector accelerates, we are proud to stand at the forefront of the clean technology movement. Over the last decade, we've tripled in size, and today, nearly 100 dedicated professionals contribute to our mission: to engineer solutions using our core technology.

With significant investment and a future-facing vision, FT Technologies is expanding its reach into new industries, including meteorology, marine, defence, and aerospace, building upon the trusted foundation we've established in wind energy.
  • Located in Sunbury-on-Thames

  • Reports to: Executive Chairman
  • Please note: Candidates will be required to undergo a background and reference check as part of the hiring process.
The Opportunity: Lead the Future

We are now seeking a Managing Director—a visionary leader ready to become our future CEO.

This is not just a job. It's a pivotal leadership role with an ambitious mandate:

To shape FT Technologies' next chapter with bold vision, operational excellence, and deep technical understanding. You'll take the reins of a highly innovative business, working alongside our Executive Chairman and Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team to lead us through transformation, growth, and global impact.

As Managing Director, you will lead FT Technologies through its next phase of growth and transformation, shaping a bold and future-focused strategy aligned with market opportunities. You'll work cross-functionally to drive operational excellence, champion innovation, and embed a culture of performance, accountability, and integrity. You will be instrumental in building a resilient, forward-thinking organisation that blends technical precision with a strong commercial focus. As a visible and trusted leader, you'll represent FT Technologies with confidence across global networks while nurturing the talent and culture that will define our future.

What You'll Do: Main Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the company's strategic vision, aligning business objectives with market opportunities.
  • Provide strong leadership across all functions, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Sales.
  • Oversee compliance with industry regulations, policies, procedures, health & safety standards, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Implement and leverage emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge in the industry.
  • Identify and evaluate potential business risks, implementing effective mitigation actions.
  • Using financial knowledge and experience to work with the Financial Controller in making informed business financial decisions.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing leadership team to support the company's long-term success.
What You'll Bring: Essential Skills, Ability and Experience
  • A degree or higher degree in Engineering (MBA desirable) and a deep understanding of technical systems and complex products.
  • Proven senior leadership experience within Engineering or Manufacturing environments.
  • A track record of scaling operations, driving innovation, and delivering commercial success.
  • Financial fluency and strong P&L ownership experience.
  • Excellent people leadership, communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The humility to listen, the courage to decide, and the integrity to lead with purpose.
  • Willingness to travel.
What You'll Get
  • A leadership role with real strategic influence and the chance to leave a legacy.
  • A collaborative, values-driven culture that prioritises people over process.
  • A place where invention meets intention and where you can engineer impact.
  • The opportunity to grow into the role of Chief Executive Officer and shape the future of FT Technologies.
  • An extensive benefits and rewards package.
