About the RoleWe have a fantastic opportunity for a Data Protection and Information Governance Lead to join Sense's IT team. This role will be hybrid, based between home and our offices in Selly Oak.
You will be responsible for managing our GDPR compliance, focusing on Information Governance and GDPR compliance processes, and progressing various Data Protection initiatives. You will be the first point of contact for data protection queries, and will therefore have regular contact with stakeholders and end users to understand the issues, and provide guidance to the Executive team and the Board of Trustees.
Key responsibilities:- Develop and maintain the Sense Information Asset Register
- Improve and manage the DSAR process
- Manage the Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) process
- Support the revision of Data Protection Policy and associated documents, ensuring accessibility and ease of use
- Promote Data Protection and Information governance across the organisation, through communications, formal and informal training and other initiatives
- Develop and update the Data Protection and Cyber Security content on the Sense intranet (Engage)
- Act as a first point of contact for queries into the team in a timely manner and escalate where needed
- Develop and contribute to Sense policies and approach for use of corporate information systems, working closely with Technology and Data teams and Sense training teams to implement across the organisation
- Develop communications and training for use across the organisation, and organise awareness weeks for Information Governance and Data Protection
- Support the business in improving data protection and governance compliance, working closely with members of the Data and Information Governance Group (DIGG)
- Champion the information access rights of individuals, providing advice and guidance on their rights of access to their personal data and dealing with any of their issues, in line with GDPR and data protection legislation
- Knowledge of GDPR and Data Protection Act
- Data Protection (GDPR) Foundation or Practitioner Certification or equivalent qualification
- Expert at use of Microsoft information management tools, including Sharepoint (essential) and Purview (desirable)
- Experience of developing Information governance processes and creating Information Asset Registers and Data Protection Impact Assessments
- Excellent communication skills, with a professional and approachable manner
- Proactive and with strong organisational skills
- Experience of working in a regulated environment desirable
- Understanding of Cyber Security principles and the role of the user in cyber defence
