Manchester England United Kingdom Mitie Full time

Join our dynamic team at Mitie Telecoms to develop and implement detailed telecoms planning strategies that support network expansion and optimisation, all whilst collaboratively working with various functions internally to achieve company objectives.

What is the main purpose of the role?

As a Planning Surveyor based at our modern Manchester offices, you will be part of the Acquisition & Planning team. The role is a technical SME role that involves the management of a volume of delivery activity associated with securing the necessary planning rights that enable the delivery of Mitie projects. This may relate to MNO customer projects (from upgrades to replacement and new sites; whether on a temporary or permanent basis) and specialist projects involving Solar PV and EV solutions. The Planning Surveyor is expected to work across multiple Client programmes, so it is essential to be a team player and have the technical experience to advise on and deliver Planning related activity.

What are the key responsibilities of the role?

You will undertake Site Surveys and Planning appraisals to enable the successful delivery of projects. Preparing planning applications for schemes and managing them through the end-to-end planning process is critical. Collaboration with stakeholders to inform and advise on technical matters using expert planning knowledge will be key, all whilst effectively managing a volume of work activity directly and via delivery suppliers.

Other responsibilities include but are not exclusive to:

  1. Conduct research and analyses to identify trends and issues affecting project progression. Perform site surveys and feasibility studies for new telecoms infrastructure. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  2. Work with local government officials, developers, and community stakeholders to meet regulatory requirements. Analyse network performance data and identify areas for improvement. Prepare and present detailed planning reports and documentation.
  3. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively. Provide technical support and guidance to junior planners and team members.
  4. Analyse market data and present findings to clients. Prepare planning applications and advise clients on construction regulations and legal matters. Assess the impact of economic, social, and environmental developments.
What are the key attributes we are looking for in our Planning Surveyor?

We are looking for someone with excellent analytical and numerical skills, who can communicate effectively both in writing and verbally. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to negotiate, network, and present confidently. An interest in legal matters, policies, and procedures is important, along with a creative and innovative approach to problem-solving. You should have good commercial awareness and an understanding of the telecom sector, and be able to work well with others and make sound decisions. Business management skills and proficiency with IT and required software packages are also necessary.

If you're ready to take on a challenging and rewarding role in telecoms planning, apply now to join our team at Mitie Telecoms.
