AIT Production Engineer

Carbon60 are currently working in partnership with one of the worlds most well known aircraft manufacturers to recruit an experienced AIT Production Engineer on an initial 12 month contract basis.

This position will focus on the assembly integration and test (AIT) in the mechanical engineering team, this will involve writing processes, plans and procedures in 3D experience for the production of satellites. Also to be involved with hardware assembly of black boxes, solar arrays and structure panels including testing and the testing facility.

The production site is based in Stevenage however the test facility is based in Oxford, after a 4 month period fully based in Stevenage the successful candidate will need to be able to travel to the test facility in Oxford during testing phases.

Responsibilities:
  1. Support to the customisation phase starting at the project kick off.
  2. Support project DMU (Digital mock-up/design for manufacture) sessions to ensure design for manufacture.
  3. Support in the creation of documentation required for the production phases, including ACS inputs, work instructions, and procedures.
  4. Lead the installation of Satellite appendages and applicable integration flows and preparation.
  5. Support the definition of MGSE for use on the Satellite and support procurement activities.
  6. Support Process Owner team in all aspects of their role.
  7. Support to AIT Lead Engineering team in periods of high workload.
  8. Creation of MBOMs and build process in DDMS.
  9. Support process owners with observation resolution and operational activities.
  10. Oversee unit installation activities on the Satellite.
  11. Support quality reviews, conduct PFMEA and Root Cause Analysis.
  12. Support in the creation of re-work instructions based on project requirements and identify parts and tooling required to carry them out.
  13. Design of tooling / build aids for assembly execution.
  14. Support to R&D.
  15. Training module creation and maintenance.
  16. Responsible for ensuring that our working modes and processes are standardised, optimised, and current.
  17. Produce new processes, undertake process improvement and maintenance and monitor process implementation in operations.
Experience Required:
  1. Minimum of HNC level in a Mechanical discipline. A lesser qualification is acceptable if a high level of similar industry experience can be demonstrated.
  2. High mechanical skills and relevant experience.
  3. Writing Procedures and process control.
  4. 3D Experience - Delmia.
  5. Able to work offsite (UK and abroad) for undefined periods at short notice.
  6. Work overtime and shifts when requested.
  7. Able to support out of normal hours work using the "on call" rota process.
  8. Quality driven approach with high attention to detail.
  9. Knowledge and experience in the production of high quality documentation (test specs, test plans, test procedures, AIT Plans, DDV plans).
  10. High self-motivation and ability to deal with changing priorities on a multi project basis.
  11. Good problem solving skills (technical, logistics and organisational).
  12. Good planning skills and process competence, (MRP system experience an advantage).
  13. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
