Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday, rotational shifts between 06:00 - 18:00)

The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Multi Skilled Engineer to join our team at Birtley. This is a multi-skilled role, requiring someone who can turn their hand to all trades and carry out a variety of maintenance tasks across the site. The ideal candidate will have an Electrical or Mechanical Qualification and previous experience working in large distribution centres.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) - Conducting regular inspections and servicing of depot assets to ensure efficient operation and prevent breakdowns.
  2. Reactive Maintenance & Repairs - Responding to breakdowns and faults, diagnosing issues, and completing both first-fix and permanent repairs to a high standard.
  3. Electrical & Mechanical Work - Maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  4. General Facilities Maintenance - Carrying out minor plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance where required.
  5. Working at Height & in Confined Spaces - Completing repairs and inspections in hard-to-reach areas using the appropriate safety equipment.
  6. Lone & Team Working - Operating independently and as part of a team to ensure all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently.
  7. On-Call Duties - Covering emergency breakdowns ensuring the site remains operational outside of standard hours.
  8. Health & Safety Compliance - Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety regulations and site procedures.
Requirements:
  1. Must have a relevant Electrical or Mechanical Qualification (NVQ Level 3 in Mech or Elec)
  2. 18th Edition
  3. Testing and inspection
  4. Previous experience working in large distribution centres
  5. Physically fit due to the varied and demanding nature of the role.
  6. A hands-on, multi-skilled professional who can adapt to all types of maintenance work.
  7. Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills in both electrical and mechanical systems.
