The Team

Our finance team is made up of 6 people in the UK, with additional transactional support on the ground in our Houston office. We have one finance team that looks after all things finance - from invoicing and credit control through to all month end and year end processes, reconciliations, budgets and forecasting, consolidation, tax and external and board reporting. The finance team also has significant involvement in project work.

Within the UK team we have three excellent and experienced transactional professionals who take care of our billing, credit control and accounts payable processes as well as day-to-day customer queries.

We also have a qualified group accountant and a qualified finance manager within the UK finance team who support this role to look after everything else. It's a hugely varied role that gives exposure to a breadth of finance responsibilities and offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, fast-growing, multi-currency environment.

Continuous improvement is a key focus for our team and we have implemented best-in-class finance systems to help us to work efficiently and effectively. We are currently using systems such as NetSuite, Adaptive Planning and Budgeting, Payfit and Payhawk and we're always looking to improve the tools we use and the way we use them. We also use our own productivity tool, Workiro, which we think is pretty great.

Our goal is to work at our best, add maximum value to the business and enjoy what we do. Our business is changing all the time, and the right person for this role will be excited by the challenges and opportunities this generates.

This role will report to the VP of Finance and Operations and you'll also interact regularly with our CFO. The finance team also interacts regularly with many of the other teams around the business.

The Role

We're looking for a qualified Group Financial Controller to join us on a fixed term contract for maternity cover starting as soon as possible and ending in September 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Managing our brilliant team of 5 in the UK and 1 in the US, providing guidance and support. Direct line manager to 2 – Finance Manager and Group Accountant.

  • Ensuring accurate revenue recognition reporting across our multiple products.
  • Working with the rest of the finance team to make sure all balance sheet reconciliations are clean and maintained up to date.
  • Overseeing the forecasting of our cash flow on a regular basis and with support from our group accountants making sure we have all the right money in all the right places at all the right times.
  • Review and approval of the monthly payroll which is prepared in house on Payfit.
  • To build and use reporting from NetSuite and Adaptive Planning and Budgeting to provide business insights.
  • Coordinating our budgeting and reforecasting processes to help encourage alignment around financial goals and objectives.
  • Being the key point of contact with external stakeholders such as banks and financial advisors.
  • Coordinating our half-year and full-year financial reporting, external audit and statutory accounts preparation at group and company level.
  • Ensuring we remain compliant with all tax filing obligations in each of the jurisdictions we operate in.
  • Act with a mindset of continuous improvement, always on the look out for ways to improve the way the team works and how we could be even better, whilst maintaining tight internal controls.
  • Work with the wider team to help maintain our evolving technology stack, always looking for more automated, more scalable and more secure ways of doing things.
