Manchester England United Kingdom SNC-Lavalin Full time
Job Description

Are you an innovative senior civil or structural engineer or consultant who is capable of agile, lateral thinking and enjoys applying and developing technical leadership and engineering management skills to deliver exciting projects? Do you aspire to thrive in a niche industry utilizing your experience in delivery ownership of structural design and assessment, finite element analysis, technical report writing and reviewing, as well as your soft skills in client engagement and engineering management?

The UK is at a critical and historical juncture to develop robust objectives in nuclear energy and defense security. You will be as an AtkinsRéalis engineer at the core of these significant challenges innovating and developing advanced solutions to bridge the energy shortfall and support the expansion of defense capabilities.

As one of our key involvements within the nuclear energy sector, AtkinsRéalis' contribution to UK government funded Great British Nuclear (GBN) competition is setting a global benchmark in nuclear technology, paving the way for a thriving career for our engineers involved in Rolls-Royce UK's SMR and GE Hitachi's BWRX-300 projects.

On defense projects, one major example of our many key contributions is our PROPEL joint venture with Mott MacDonald to double the size of the Raynes way site for the design of the new nuclear manufacturing facilities. AtkinsRéalis will also be supporting the incoming fissile construction partner to deliver them.

We are looking for fulltime senior civil and structural engineers to join our newly established and growing team in Manchester and Sheffield offices.

Your experience in any of the following would be beneficial to the role but not all are required to apply:

  • You have a relevant level of professional experience which could be derived from civil-structural design and analysis (steelwork and reinforced concrete), research and development, project engineering or design consultancy.
  • You can excel in first-of-a-kind nuclear power plant projects, such as Small Modular Reactor generic design, where the AtkinsRéalis team has been introducing groundbreaking innovations to enhance design scalability and adaptability on local and European sites such as Sweden and Czech Republic.
  • You can contribute to complex defense projects by applying a transformative engineering approach that integrates sustainable design practices, advanced digital technologies, and a solid understanding of business consultancy inputs.
  • You can work collaboratively from our offices and across our client sites to understand clients' needs and deliver to time, cost and quality.

What can you bring?

  • Passion for harnessing the digital technology on engineering projects by using or reviewing the use of robust FEA software such as LS-DYNA and ABAQUS for solving complex civil and structural engineering design challenges.
  • Strong commitment to the advancement of nuclear technologies and willingness to advance the technology developments on our clients' European sites.
  • A questioning and curious mind in getting behind the obvious and seeking the deeper insights that drive innovative solutions and improvements.
Capability for taking a complex problem and digesting it to form a concise and proportionate solution.
  • Leadership skills to influence and nurture our client relationships, inspire your colleagues and develop our staff.

Why work for AtkinsRéalis?
