We are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Senior Manager and Leader and social worker to join us as Head of Service for Ipswich and East Suffolk Adult Social Care (ASC). This is an initial 12-month position that promises to be both rewarding and varied, offering you the chance to work across both urban and rural areas in Suffolk.
The role includes overseeing 8 co-located Integrated Neighbourhood Teams, along with a hospital and flexible support team. As part of our social care leadership team, we are committed to supporting your development and work-life balance from the very start. We believe in the potential and power of new and different ideas, and we actively encourage creativity. If you share this mindset, we invite you to bring your unique talents to our team. We prioritise encouraging, respecting, and enabling leaders to be the best they can be. So, explore your potential and take your career further than you ever thought possible. Reimagine the possibilities with us.
In this key role, you will work closely with and support the Area Director, and Service Managers playing a vital part in managing the Ipswich and East locality. Your responsibilities will include:
- putting people at the heart of everything we do
- innovating and thinking creatively including undertaking a tactical leadership responsibility supporting the delivery of People at the Heart of Care Transformation
- providing service leadership and proactive role in Senior Management Teams

- promoting a culture of value for money and supporting change management to embed continuous improvement
- developing and maintaining exceptional standards of practice, collaborating closely with partners and third-sector colleagues to foster excellent relationships
- continuing to drive forward the delivery of our integrated approach.
No two days will be the same, so you will need to be flexible, committed, highly motivated, and able to think on your feet. Friendly and compassionate, you will work alongside both managers and practitioners to drive performance improvement, using dynamic and strategic leadership approaches to ensure the highest standards of service delivery.
You should have an excellent understanding of both health and care systems, demonstrating behaviours of a system leader. This role is crucial in the ongoing development of the localities' discharge-to-assess approach and integrated neighbourhood team working. A social work qualification and registration with Social Work England, along with experience working at a senior level within a local authority, are required.
In return for your dedication, we will help you play to your strengths, diversify your skills, and support you in building an influential and impactful career. You will join a close leadership team that shares ideas and supports each other, always striving to improve and deliver to the highest standards. We will provide you with the autonomy you need to succeed while ensuring you maintain a healthy work-life balance. Our support will empower and enable you to become the best you can be.
