Our Graduate Programme offers a unique opportunity to rotate across different operational sites and teams, giving you hands-on experience in everything from network planning and asset management to fault response and customer service. Training is primarily office or site-based, but as you progress, you’ll enjoy increasing flexibility and responsibility as you move beyond the programme and into your engineering career. Throughout your journey, you’ll be supported every step of the way, gaining the practical experience and professional development needed to thrive in the energy sector. What you’ll be doing Distribution Network Engineering Relevant Degrees: Electrical, Mechanical, Power Systems, Civil, or Construction Engineering. Gain practical, hands-on experience in both field-based and office-based roles, supporting engineering teams in maintaining, upgrading, and responding to faults in critical infrastructure Get involved in network planning, asset management, and customer service to understand the full scope of electricity network management Contribute to decarbonisation projects and efforts to enhance network resilience Rotate through different teams and functions, building a comprehensive view of how we deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable energy to customers Collaborate safely in both office and field environments as part of a supportive, innovative team culture that values continuous improvement Transmission Network Engineering Relevant Degrees: Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Construction Engineering Rotate through both field-based and office-based roles at various operational sites and locations Gain hands-on experience supporting the design, development, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage infrastructure Contribute to strategic projects and daily network operations, enabling the transition to net zero Build broad expertise by working with different teams on how we design, maintain, and innovate within the electricity network Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure safety, reliability, and innovation Be part of a supportive, safety-focused culture that encourages your development and fresh thinking Design & Development Engineering Relevant Degrees: Electrical, Mechanical, Power Systems, Civil, or Construction Engineering Gain technical and strategic engineering experience whilst working across offices and sites based on project needs Support planning, design, and delivery of network upgrades Collaborate with internal teams and external partners Contribute to a culture of innovation, safety, and improvement Use modelling tools to optimise network performance & drive digitalisation in project planning and delivery Help deliver safe, efficient, future-ready energy solutions Align technical work with strategic goals through stakeholder engagement Network Planning Engineering Relevant Degrees: Electrical, Mechanical, Power Systems, or Civil Engineering. Play a central role in shaping the future of the electricity network through innovative and sustainable solutions. Develop network designs and analyse system generation and demand data to support long-term planning and ensure infrastructure meets evolving needs. Use modelling tools and visualisation techniques to inform strategic investment decisions. Provide insights that support regulatory reporting, key submissions, consultations, and stakeholder engagement. Collaborate closely with engineering, commercial, and policy teams to deliver impactful outcomes. SCADA Engineering Relevant Degrees: Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, Computer Science. Work with SCADA systems, RTUs, HMIs, and communication protocols Support system design, integration, and commissioning Help monitor assets and analyse real-time data Contribute to cybersecurity and compliance efforts Power Systems Analysis & Design Relevant Degrees: Electrical, Electronic, or Power Systems Engineering. Work alongside a team of skilled engineers to drive improvements and upgrades to our network Assess network performance and design new infrastructure Support customer connections like solar panels Use simulation tools to optimise the grid Civil Engineering Relevant Degrees: Civil Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, or similar. Rotate across areas like asset management, design, and construction Work on civil surveying, conceptual and detailed design Use CAD and BIM tools to create technical drawings Support site engineering, policy development, and project delivery Engineering Project Management Relevant Degrees: Project Management, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
