Role Overview
A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Pharmaceutical Purchasing Specialist to join a Global Pharmaceutical Distribution company based in the Bedfordshire area.As the Pharmaceutical Purchasing Specialist you will be responsible for managing procurement activities, sourcing pharmaceutical products, negotiating contracts with suppliers, and ensuring efficient supply chain operations within the United Kingdom. This role involves strategic sourcing, vendor management, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations and quality standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties as the Pharmaceutical Purchasing Specialist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:1. Develop and implement procurement strategies for pharmaceutical products in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
2. Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish relationships to secure cost-effective and high-quality pharmaceutical supplies. Monitor and manage supplier performance, resolving any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing discrepancies.
3. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand demand forecasts and inventory requirements, ensuring timely procurement to meet business needs. Work closely with cross-functional teams including logistics, quality control, and finance to streamline supply chain processes and minimize disruptions.. Conduct market research to analyse pricing trends, supplier performance, and industry developments to optimize purchasing decisions.
4. Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier agreements while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Stay updated on industry regulations, market dynamics, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in procurement processes.
Role Requirements
To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Pharmaceutical Purchasing Specialist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:1. You will be degree qualified within a Supply Chain Management discipline or similar. CIPS certification would be beneficial.
2. Proven industry experience in pharmaceutical procurement or purchasing within the UK market. You will posses strong negotiation, analytical, and vendor management skills with the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.
3. A solid understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations, procurement practices and supply chain operations. You will be a competent user of procurement software, ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
