Tutors (Young People at risk of PEX)

Job description Are you passionate about helping young people re-engage with learning? Do you have the resilience, creativity, and positivity to make a real difference?Prospero Teaching are looking for dedicated Tutors to support children and young people aged 5-18 across Southampton and surrounding areas. These learners are at risk of permanent exclusion (PEX) and need tailored, 1:1 support to thrive both academically and emotionally. As a Tutor you will: Deliver Maths and English sessions tailored to individual needs Support learners in developing positive relationships and de-escalation strategies Help build confidence, routine, and a love for learning Work in homes, community settings, or alternative provision spaces About you: Tutors, teachers, mentors, TAs, Cover Supervisors, or youth workers with experience supporting young people Strong communication and behaviour management skills A calm, consistent, and encouraging approach Ability to work independently and adapt to different learning styles Position – AP TutorContract or position start date – ASAPContract or position end date (if applicable) – N/AFull time/part-time – Opportunities for bothHours – 12 Hours per week- for the right candidate, this can be increased to full time with additional tuition opportunities Essential & Desirable Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL Trauma-informed and skilled in de-escalation and emotional regulation strategies- Desirable To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must: Hold right to work in the UK Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application Provide references upon request Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
