Job description

The Senior Engineer will lead and coordinate the activities and resources involved in the identification of asset needs and development of early solutions for the asset class in scope, while assuring adherence to defined asset policies and standards. You will be leading on drainage renewal schemes/projects.

This role will be based in either their Basingstoke or Maidstone offices with flexible / hybrid working as standard.

You will be required to drive as part of your role and you will need to have a full clean driving license to be considered for this position and during employment.

What you'll be leading on

Ensuring the health and safety needs and wellbeing of customers and employees are fully considered and accounted for throughout the planning and delivery of each service activity. To lead the development of early solutions for drainage renewals and improvements, including the compiling and checking of relevant documents, evidence and options for value management, taking into account new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs. Assist the Project Managers with the delivery of agreed early solutions and plans, liaising with the relevant teams to identify and/or rectify issues. Identifying, prepare briefs and support delivery of survey works that support the improvement and/or renewal of assets. To provide technical support to Project Managers by providing materials approvals, vetting of contractors' compliance, inspection support on site, and reviewing of Health and Safety Files. To undertake technical reviews of third party designs to ensure that they comply with standards, design briefs and Design for Maintenance Requirements. To support the development of more junior team members, either through coaching, mentoring or more formal line management arrangements.

To be successful you'll need

Degree or HND in relevant discipline and appropriate experience or equivalent Knowledge of asset condition assessment Knowledge and experience of promoting drainage renewals (or similar) schemes/projects with the ability to work within budgets including creation of a budget for scheme development. Knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highways network with experience in highway infrastructure/drainage design and good knowledge of CDM 2015 Experience of working closely with other internal/external design teams, Contractors, Local Authorities, Stakeholders etc. Share
