BSL Teaching Assistant - EssexImmediate Start - Long Term PositionWe are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate BSL Teaching Assistant to join our team at a mainstream school in Essex. This role involves providing 1:1 support for a deaf student, making a significant impact on their educational journey. Working for a supportive and inclusive school, we are looking for a candidate with any BSL qualification, a strong commitment to inclusion, and a desire to make a difference in a mainstream classroom.Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to a hearing-impaired student, ensuring full access to the curriculum and participation in classroom activities.Implement strategies outlined in the student's EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan).Support the student's communication needs, using BSL to facilitate understanding of lessons.Develop key skills in language, reading, writing, spelling, and mathematics with the student.Foster an inclusive environment that encourages independence, confidence, and social integration.Work closely with the class teacher to adapt lessons and materials to meet the student's needs.Monitor progress and provide feedback to contribute to regular reviews of the student's development.Assist with the preparation of learning materials and resources tailored to the student's learning style.Support the student during extracurricular activities, school trips, and other events outside the classroom.Encourage positive behaviour and assist the student in managing their physical and emotional needs in line with the school's Behaviour Policy.Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge. Essential Requirements: Minimum of a Level 1 BSL (British Sign Language) qualification.Prior experience supporting students with hearing impairments, preferably in a mainstream setting.Positive, patient, and proactive attitude with a strong commitment to inclusion and student success.Excellent communication and organisational skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and the student's family.
