Job description Youth Development Mentor (SEMH) – Havant Location: Havant | Start Date: September 2025 | Pay: From £ | Contract: Long Term / Permanent Prospero Teaching is proud to be working with a specialist SEMH secondary school in Havant, and we’re on the lookout for kind-hearted, passionate Youth Development Mentors to join their supportive team. This isn’t just a job-it’s a chance to be a lifeline for young people navigating emotional and behavioural challenges. You’ll be the person who listens, encourages, and helps them build confidence and resilience, both in and out of the classroom. Who Thrives in This Role? We’ve seen incredible success with: Psychology graduates Sports coaches Individuals from care backgrounds People with firsthand experience of SEN/SEMH If you’re calm under pressure, great at building trust, and genuinely want to help young people thrive, this could be the perfect fit. What You’ll Be Doing Supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs Helping manage behaviour with empathy and consistency Building strong, respectful relationships with students and staff Encouraging personal growth, emotional regulation, and academic engagement What We’re Looking For A caring, patient, and adaptable approach Experience with SEMH / SEN or communication challenges is a bonus Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset A commitment to helping students succeed-no matter what Requirements Right to work in the UK Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to apply) Professional references covering the last 24 months What We Offer Free accredited training in safeguarding and behaviour management Ongoing support from our friendly team A meaningful role where you’ll make a real difference Ready to Make a Difference?
