The business supports a varied portfolio of SME clients across sectors, delivering high-quality compliance and advisory services.The RoleAs a Senior Accountant, you will take ownership of a designated portfolio of clients, acting as their primary point of contact and ensuring they receive timely, accurate, and value-adding support. Alongside core compliance work, you'll also play a key role in building relationships, spotting opportunities, and contributing to the firm's growth.Day-to-day, you will:Prepare year-end accounts for clients using IRISPrepare corporation tax returns and self-assessment tax returns (for company directors and tax-only clients)Review annual accounts prepared by peers and VAT returns where requiredAct as client manager, ensuring prompt query responses, profitable job completion, and agreed timescales are metConduct pre year-end and post year-end meetings/calls with clientsReview client pricing annually and agree on fees for additional workPrepare management accounts and attend client meetings where possibleMaintain Xero certification and leverage add-on apps and EPOS systemsEnsure compliance with AML reporting for your client groupDrive a culture of continuous improvement across your portfolioSupport with other ad hoc tasks as directed by the firm's directorsAbout YouWe're looking for someone who enjoys working closely with clients, thrives on variety, and brings a proactive, problem-solving approach.You'll ideally be:Professionally qualified (ACCA/ICAS/ACA), part-qualified or qualified by experience within practiceExperienced in preparing accounts, corporation tax, and self-assessment returnsConfident in managing client relationships and delivering a high standard of serviceFamiliar with cloud accounting software (Xero certification essential)Organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a varied workloadCommercially aware, with the ability to spot opportunities to add value to clientsWhat's on OfferCompetitive salary, dependent on experienceHybrid working model with flexibility around office/home balanceSupportive and collaborative culture with a focus on continuous improvementOpportunity to work with a broad and interesting portfolio of clientsOngoing training and professional development, including cloud software certificationsRobert Half Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
