Job Description A leading property consultancy is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Rating Surveyor to join their highly regarded National Rating team, based in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified surveyor with experience in business rates to take the next step in their career within a collaborative, market-leading environment. You'll be part of a supportive and ambitious team, advising major clients on complex rating matters across a diverse portfolio.What's in it for you: Exciting Growth: The team is expanding rapidly, with a significant push and recent addition of a new Partner.Plenty of Opportunities: There's a high volume of work available due to ongoing changes in the market.Career Progression: Roles available up to Senior Surveyor level, with opportunities for both qualified and experienced non-qualified candidates.Diverse Team: The team includes graduates and apprentices, offering a supportive environment for learning and development.Valuation Focus: Ideal for those with business rates valuation experience (BR Valuation), but open to those with relevant experience even if not formally qualified.RVA Experience: Opportunities to work on RVA (Rating Valuation Appeals) cases.Key Responsibilities:Develop and implement strategies to minimise clients' business rates liabilitiesManage empty property rates and apply for relevant reliefsInspect and accurately measure properties for valuation purposesAnalyse evidence and assessments to determine appeal potentialPrepare and submit high-quality submissions as part of the Check, Challenge, Appeal (CCA) processBuild and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring exceptional service deliveryContribute to team financial targets and explore new business opportunitiesMentor and support junior colleagues as requiredSkills & Experience:Qualified Chartered Surveyor (MRICS or equivalent), ideally with experience in ratingProven track record of delivering rating advice and managing client portfoliosFamiliarity with rating software such as Riverlake, Analyse, RatesData, and CalcurateStrong communication, negotiation, and report-writing skillsCommercially minded with an entrepreneurial approach to business developmentUp-to-date knowledge of rating legislation, procedures, and appeals processes How to apply:
