Program Leadership:• Serve as a subject matter expert and provide guidance on TB program operations across the district.• Develop program goals, policies, procedures, quality improvement indicators, and core measures.• Monitor service delivery for compliance with policies and regulations.• Support interprofessional team development and collaborative public health initiatives.• Participate in epidemiology monitoring, vaccine-preventable illness responses, and emergency public health activities.• Conduct communicable disease investigations and assist with outbreak responses in schools, nursing facilities, and congregate settings.Community Liaison:• Promote public health awareness, risk reduction, and preventative health through community programs, screenings, and events.• Educate and empower the community on TB and other public health issues.• Serve as liaison with community groups, employers, and task forces to increase program visibility and resource development.• Assist with community health assessments, improvement planning, and evaluation of engagement strategies.Direct Patient Care:• Conduct nursing assessments, laboratory tests, measurements, and administer medications as indicated.• Develop and implement individualized care plans and provide case management.• Deliver health services in clinics, homes, schools, and community settings.• Apply population-level public health interventions, integrating cultural competence and evidence-based nursing practices.Customer Service & Teamwork:• Provide courteous, professional, and solution-oriented service to clients, colleagues, and the public.• Contribute to the mission and goals of the Virginia Department of Health and local Health Districts.• Attend meetings, communicate effectively with team members, and demonstrate flexibility in support of program objectives.Other Duties:• May perform additional duties or assist in emergency response activities as directed.• May be required to work evenings, weekends, or travel in support of public health needs.• The Virginia Department of Health offers 12 paid holidays, medical, dental, vision and life insurance, retirement plans (including 401a Cash Match and 457 Deferred Compensation Plan) as well as sick, family/personal, and annual leave.THIS RECRUITMENT QUALIFIES FOR EXCEPTIONAL RECRUITMENT AND INCENTIVE OPTIONS, INCLUDING SIGN ON BONUS, LEAVE GRANT, AND OTHER POTENTIAL BENEFITS MAY BE OFFERED.VDH requires all Health-Care Personnel (HCP) to provide documentation of immunization or evidence of immunity to the following: hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; a one-time dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last dose of tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered (Td or Tdap boosters shall be received every 10 years); and the current year's seasonal influenza vaccination. Minimum Qualifications 1.Current, unrestricted Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license and current CPR certification.2.Demonstrate experience obtaining comprehensive health histories, performing physical assessments, conducting nursing procedures, administering medications and injections, identifying potential problems, and developing methodical care plans3.Strong interviewing and communication skills4.Knowledge of nursing processes, case management, health maintenance, disease processes, epidemiology, and behavioral science.5.Experience in leadership roles and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.6.Public health experience required; experience in hospital or long-term care infection control preferred7.Experience with data entry, review, analysis, reporting, and using epidemiologic data for public health interventions8.Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills9.Valid driver’s license and ability to provide own transportation for work-related travel (mileage reimbursed) Additional Considerations • If serving on the Epidemiology (EPI) Response Team, Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is preferred, along with experience in hospital or long-term care facility infection control.
