Consultant in Care of the Elderly

Our NHS Teaching Hospital based in the East of England is recruiting two Consultant's in Care of the Elderly on a substantive basis or a fixed term basis and have asked us to assist with recommending suitable candidates. This is an exciting time to join the Trust with the ongoing comprehensive reconfiguration of services for unscheduled care which involves further development of our “front door multidisciplinary frailty service”. The development of a Frailty Assessment Unit to facilitate the management of patients through the Trust is a key project that is currently underway and the forward vision focuses on the development of this service into a seven day a week provision. The service also aims to explore and develop opportunities for dedicated services within Older People's Medicine such as a dedicated falls clinic, fracture liaison service (FLS) and a comprehensive geriatric assessment based clinicThe successful appointee will be asked to fulfil various duties, such as: Contribute to development of the Care of the elderly service, Provide with the other Consultants a system of mutual out-of-hours cover for General Internal Medicine and cover for annual, study and professional leave, Provide a consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues in other specialties in the Trust, Liaise with medical staff in other specialties and participate in the regular clinical meetings and other post-graduate activities of the hospital, Take part in the continuing medical education programme . The Trust will provide study leave expenses in line with national terms and conditions of service, Act as educational supervisor and engage in regular appraisal and assessment of all doctors in training or in equivalent posts for whom the post-holder has educational or organisational responsibility & Play a full part in the teaching, audit and other governance activities of the department.Furthermore, one of these positions are for either new Consultants or Specialty Doctor's looking to make that next step to a Consultant level role or perhaps a senior consultant whom is looking to join a department with they have a dedicated COE ward with 1 OPM trained Consultant, a very strong OPM Team who got them through Covid very well with strong leadership and an excellent retention and relocation package. This is a real opportunity to develop the service at this trust where they'll be provided with full support from the trust.
