Learning Support Assistant Learning Support Assistant – SEN School (Autism, Communication & Medical Needs) Location: Pontefract (easily commutable from Castleford, Wakefield, Normanton, Featherstone, and Doncaster for drivers) Pay: £101.40 – £120 per day (depending on experience) Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday-Friday Start: Immediate or January About the Role Are you passionate about helping children with additional needs reach their full potential? We’re recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive SEN school in Pontefract. The school works with pupils aged 11-19 with autism, communication needs (including non-verbal learners), complex learning difficulties, and medical needs. You’ll become part of a dedicated team helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and life skills through structured, nurturing, and engaging learning experiences. Your Role Will Include: Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND Supporting non-verbal learners using visual aids, Makaton, and communication systems Assisting with personal care and medical needs Promoting emotional regulation and positive behaviour Helping pupils access learning through sensory activities and routine-based teaching Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to meet individual needs We’re Looking For: Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (autism, SEMH, or medical needs) Calm, caring, and patient approach Confidence implementing communication and behaviour strategies Full-time commitment during term time (Mon–Fri, 8:30–3:30) Applicants from Doncaster welcomed if you have a full driving licence Ideal Backgrounds: SEN or mainstream classroom experience Care, residential, or health support work Psychology, Criminology, or Education graduates Why Join Us?
