This role involves leading a team of supervisors and operatives to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards of quality and safety. The Contracts Manager is also responsible for client relationships, financial management, and ensuring that all work complies with legal and regulatory requirements. The role plays a key part in driving operational efficiency, client satisfaction, and business growth.Key Accountabilities:Contract Management: Oversee the delivery of all repair and maintenance contracts within the assigned region or portfolio. Ensure that all contractual obligations are met and that projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and client satisfactionTeam Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Contract Delivery Supervisors and site operatives. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and high performanceClient Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals, timelines, and expectations. Act as the primary point of contact for all client-related mattersFinancial Management: Manage project budgets, ensuring that work is delivered within financial constraints. Monitor costs, approve expenditures, and work with the commercial team to maximize profitabilityOperational Efficiency: Drive operational excellence by optimizing resource allocation, streamlining processes, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within scope. Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service deliveryHealth and Safety Compliance: Ensure that all work is conducted in compliance with the company's health and safety policies and legal requirements. Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain a safe working environmentRisk Management: Identify and manage risks associated with project delivery, including technical, financial, and contractual risks. Develop and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard the company's interestsQuality Assurance: Oversee quality control processes, ensuring that all work meets the required standards and that any issues are addressed promptly. Ensure that the delivery team adheres to company policies, procedures, and industry regulationsReporting and Documentation: Provide regular reports on project progress, financial performance, and key issues to senior management. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all project-related activitiesBusiness Development Support: Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities for contract extensions, additional work, or new client relationships. Support the bidding and tendering process as neededStrategic Planning: Contribute to the development of the company's strategic goals and objectives, providing insights and recommendations based on contract performance and market trends. The Ideal Person: NVQ or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Site Supervision, or a related fieldSMSTSFirst Aid certification, Asbestos Awareness, Working at Height, Scaffold Inspection, and other relevant health and safety qualificationsCSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card - black / whiteExperience within the repairs and maintenance or construction industryStrong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry practicesUnderstanding of health and safety regulations and best practices in constructionExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, operatives, and subcontractorsProven ability to manage resources and coordinate on-site activities effectivelyStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressureProficiency in basic IT skills, including the use of project management software
