Product Design @ JOOR

We're seeking a Director of Product Design to join our team at JOOR. As a Director of Product Design at JOOR, you'll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of complex problems.

As a Director of Product Design, you'll lead the Design team at JOOR, which comprises multidisciplinary designers individually responsible for all design aspects: most UXR methods from discovery to usability, UX design, UI design, and prototyping for both web and mobile. Additionally, our designers are critical collaborators in cross-disciplinary activities such as product discovery, design, validation, and analysis. 

Product Designers at JOOR take design ownership of projects, large and small. They assume responsibility for design quality across their immediate and adjacent product groups and  to discover & define problems and the outcomes to accomplish.

Job Summary :

The Director of Product Design will be at the forefront of our product development efforts, leading our design team to create intuitive, engaging, consistent and visually compelling user experiences across company initiatives. This role requires a visionary leader who combines creative design skills with a deep understanding of user-centered design principles and the ability to drive innovation within a SaaS platform.

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic thinking, team leadership, and hands-on design expertise to guide the product design strategy from conception to launch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with your Product, Engineering, and Operations leadership partners to plan and execute our product roadmaps.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with our global stakeholders, learn the nuances of their workflows, and ensure your team is designing and shipping impactful and cohesive product experiences that meet our stakeholders' needs.
  • Balance being a passionate advocate for our users while pushing your teams towards efficient operational excellence.
  • Manage and coach your design team by helping them navigate the complexity and ambiguity of our business areas.
  • Keep your teams inspired and engaged by providing clear direction that looks towards the future while creating actionable steps that are impactful today.

Skills, Characteristics & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience successfully leading and scaling high-performance design teams, including ICs and people managers.
  • Demonstrated passion for design excellence in the fashion wholesale space and a successful track record of shipping impactful products at a global scale.
  • Experience collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders, helping drive alignment between design and your cross-functional partners, and building strong relationships across business areas.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity. Ability to bring rigorous design thinking and operational structure to complex and evolving problem spaces.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal whether in small group discussions, large-scale presentations, or with executives.
  • Ability to inspire, lead, and engage your design teams, leaning in and giving them critical business context, feedback, and direction.
  • Bring a balanced perspective and thoughtful decision-making to strategic discussions, advocating for both user-centricity and the needs of the business with your teams and your peers.

  • Deep understanding of complex data products
  • Experience/knowledge of the wholesale fashion industry
  • You have experience managing a design team on enterprise products and features for web and mobile apps.
  • You have experience and enjoy managing a team of designers who collaborate, co-design, and solve problems together.
  • You have experience working with an established Design System and are familiar with contributing new components when necessary. 
  • You have experience using Figma.
