Are you an experienced Payroll Professional who is looking for a new challenge? Pertemps are currently working with a leading organisation who have a requirement for an experienced Payroll Specialist who is available for contract work. This role is covering long term sick leave. Our client is flexible regarding remote working, but you ideally must be based in Glasgow/Edinburgh areas as you would be required for ad hoc meetings with internal stakeholders. Salary circa £35k depending on experience.  This role is initially a 3-month fixed term contract with extensions thereafter. You will support the Head of Tax and Finance Manager in ensuring the the UK monthly payroll is processed accurately and on time, taking full responsibility for the full end to end processing using Sage Line 50.MAIN TASKSProcess full end to end monthly payroll processing (new starts, leavers, transfers, changes, absences, overtime etc)Assisting with monthly and ad-hoc payroll reportsResponding to payroll queries from managers and employeesMonitoring the payroll mailbox ensuring all e-mails are responded to in a timely fashionEnsure the current legislative and contractual deductions are applied, paid timely and authorised in accordance to HMRC guidelinesManage and reconcile Payroll Control Accounts for month end and year end in line with Group Reporting timetableComplete the financial tax year end sending end of year summaries, P35’s,P14 on-line to HMRC and issue p60’s to all employees in line with HMRC timetable;Review processes on an ongoing basis, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, and proposing/ implementing these with input/authorisation from the Transactional Processing Leader as appropriate;Skills / Experience required:  Understanding of UK payroll best practise and past experience of working in payrollComputer literacy in using Microsoft Office suite and payroll softwareStrong written and verbal communication with stakeholdersDeductive reasoning for analysing raw payroll data and using it to develop and refine payroll policiesOrganised work ethic and multi-taskingStrong organisational and time management skillsProfessional approach with accuracy and attention to detail.Additional desirable qualities:Experience/knowledge of Sage 50 payrollAbility to keep up to date on legislation changes. The client is looking for someone to start quickly.
