Job description Principal Ecologist -£competitiveManchester- UKAre you a dedicated and chartered Ecologist with experience managing projects and inspiring more junior team members to develop withing a multi-disciplinary consultancy?Looking for a new challenge to manage a diverse portfolio of multiple projects? This could be for youThe roleThe position will be varied and duties include:* Leading a varied portfolio of interesting and complex ecological projects from initial client liaison through to completion.* Mentoring and managing enthusiastic ecologists by adopting a creative and an inspiring approach.* Contributing to business development activities including building client relationships and writing fee proposals to help to expand our current portfolio.* Project and people management to ensure effective delivery of reports.* Being the lead author on a range of reports including EcIAs, ES Chapters and Habitat Regulations Assessments.Requirements* A minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience as an Ecologist in a consultancy environment.* Full member of CIEEM, preferably a Chartered Ecologist or Chartered Environmentalist.* Excellent knowledge of UK and EC wildlife legislation and policy.* Excellent knowledge of EIA and the planning process.* Proven experience of writing technical reports and delivery of EPSM licence documents; EcIA; ES Chapters Habitat Regulations Assessments and BREEAM Assessments.* Named ecologist on EPSM licences - Bats / Great Crested Newts as a minimum.* Staff mentoring experience.Why this role?Our Client is a design and Environmental multidisciplinary consultancy based in Manchester.
