Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom EDF Full time

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. As a result, a Technical Directorate is being established to oversee the engineering disciplines and technical expertise needed to successfully deliver these projects through EPR-E's integrated teams.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll be responsible for the detailed design of a 300km piping network for the HPC Nuclear Island, guiding the project through fabrication, and providing additional support during on-site installation. You'll collaborate with CAD designers and fellow engineers to produce accurate piping design models and deliverables, ensuring compliance with system requirements and specifications while adapting to configuration changes. As part of the post-handover phase, you'll integrate design changes and final equipment designs into the models, manage the Open Point and UK Design Change processes, and engage in continuous learning to enhance your skills and address any design non-conformities.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a salary from £55,000 to £65,000 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We're talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans .

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone's welcome. We're on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We'd like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We're a disability confident employer and we'll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That's why we support you to pursue a career that's unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you'll be doing

You'll deliver piping work packages for UK nuclear projects, ensuring compliance with specifications, delivery processes, and quality assurance, while actively participating in and chairing kick-off meetings.

You'll mentor junior team members to enhance delivery quality and team capability, and report on work package progress while managing expectations from team leads and clients.

You'll also engage in continuous improvement efforts, adhere to design change and open point management procedures, oversee the modelling of piping and support designs in 3D, and effectively communicate with various stakeholders throughout the design delivery process.

Who you are

Being a Mechanical Engineer means holding a degree or suitable diploma in Mechanical Engineering, along with a solid understanding of process plants.

You'll have a proven track record of delivering technical work on time and to a high standard, complemented by excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal abilities. Additionally, you must be adaptable to the evolving needs of the project.

We're looking for a proactive and self-motivated individual who can consistently meet commitments and deadlines, follow project engineering procedures, and demonstrate strong technical coordination skills. You should be eager to grow and develop, with aspirations of advancing into technical leadership.

If this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you

Closing date for applications: 3rd November 2024

Success is personal. It's your journey, powered by us. Join us and we'll help Britain achieve Net Zero, together.
