Aspiring Occupational Therapist – Therapeutic SEN Teaching Assistant Aspiring Occupational Therapist – Therapeutic SEN Teaching Assistant Milk Education | Hillingdon (West London) Milk Education is recruiting for a highly specialist independent SEND provision in the UB area. This setting supports primary-aged pupils with Autism, severe learning difficulties, communication needs, sensory processing differences, and emotional regulation challenges. It’s a small, nurturing school with a structured, low-stimulus environment and dedicated therapeutic spaces. The provision is known for its high standards, exceptional staff–pupil ratios, and strong multi-disciplinary approach – making it an excellent placement for someone aiming for a future in Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, or therapeutic SEN work. About the Role This is a hands-on, therapy-led position supporting a very small cohort of pupils. You will work closely with teachers, OTs, SaLTs, and specialist behaviour practitioners to deliver communication routines, sensory regulation strategies, mobility support, and adapted learning activities. Key Responsibilities Providing consistent 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Autism and severe learning difficulties Supporting therapy-based interventions within sensory rooms and specialist learning areas Reinforcing OT and SaLT targets (fine motor skills, communication, sensory regulation, independence) Using visual communication systems such as symbol supports, visual timetables, and structured routines Assisting pupils with emotional regulation, sensory breaks, and low-arousal strategies Supporting adapted curriculum activities focused on communication, PSHE, independence, and functional life skills Assisting with personal care where required Helping maintain predictable routines that reduce anxiety and support positive regulation Working collaboratively with the wider therapeutic and education team This role is ideal for someone who wants real, meaningful experience in a therapeutic SEN environment – perfect preparation for OT or other clinical pathways.
