Consultant in Geriatric Medicine

Applications are invited for a Consultant Geriatrician to join one of our clients at a Trust based in the South of England. A beautiful location with sandy beaches, fantastic transport links to other areas of the country and vibrant towns offering something for all ages. The hospital is known as one of the most innovative trusts in the country giving unique access to national support and funding to realise their exciting plans. The Care of the Elderly Department is currently expanding in order to meet the needs of an increasingly frail and complex population. The Trust works with the Complex Care team and Primary Care Networks (PCNs) who seek to address the needs of their most complex patients and aims to prevent admissions by meeting needs in the community before the patient reaches crisis point. The post holder would further enhance this engagement by: attending Complex Care and PCN MDTs, undertake community clinics, participate in the redesign of community geriatrics, increase our presence in community geriatrics.The appointee must have the following to be eligible for this post:•MBBS and MRCP, or equivalent• Full GMC registration with a license to practice (essential)• Knowledge of the NHS plan/modernisation agenda and the implications for service development• Ability to cope with the demands of a DGH based Consultant• Ability to lead and develop the service• Ability to communicate effectively in written English• Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies• Depth and breadth of experience in General Internal Medicine and Stroke/Elderly Care following completion of approved STR training programme or equivalentIn return the trust is offering:• Generous relocation package, including visa and travel costs • 10 hours of paid time for professional development every week• £700 personal budget for training and development every year• Stunning countryside location with fantastic transport links to London If you want more information on this position then please apply nowWe are often appointed by NHS Trusts to help recruit for their vacancies.
