SEMH Teaching Assistant – South Shields Full-time, Long-term Start: ASAP Pay: £89 to £110 per day (PAYE) For the right fit, a permanent opportunity is available.This is a brilliant opportunity in a therapeutic SEMH environment where relationships genuinely come first.The school supports KS2–KS4 pupils with emotional needs, attachment difficulties, anxiety, and behaviours that can be challenging when things feel overwhelming. They’re looking for someone who can bring warmth and boundaries in equal measure.Key parts of the role Providing 1:1 and small-group support Using positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques Modelling calm communication and emotional resilience Supporting life-skills projects, sports, outdoor learning, and practical tasks Helping pupils connect with school in a way that feels manageable and safe The ideal fit will be Confident, patient, and consistent Comfortable with behaviour that’s expressive, not personal Someone who truly enjoys seeing pupils grow in confidence As always, if you’re not Thrive trained, let’s fix that.
