With a specialist Mental Health Nursing or Social Work qualification, and the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary support setting, you will offer brief, time-limited therapeutic interventions to students experiencing mental health and emotional issues. You will have experience in carrying out mental health assessments, as well as also being required to contribute to other areas of work within the team, including following the team's crisis and risk assessment protocols and making case referrals, as required. You will work as part of our multi-disciplinary Mental Health and Wellbeing Team and contribute to the positive impact that this team has on student retention and the student experience.
We are particularly interested in practitioners who have experience in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds or underrepresented social groups. Candidates must be able to work within a short-term therapeutic model (usually of up to six 1-2-1 sessions) but also within a framework of brief assessment and intervention. Knowledge or experience of single session or session by session work would be beneficial.
Our team is currently operating a hybrid model of working which involves working both remotely and on campus (any hybrid working is non contractual and could be subject to change). Interventions to students are provided by a combination of face to face, telephone and online via Teams video.
In order to provide accessible services to students this post holder will be expected to work one late shift per week 11:00am - 7:00pm.
We currently have vacancies for the following:
- 1x part time Mental Health Practitioner (Permanent) - 29.6 hours per week - 4 days
- 1x part time Mental Health Practitioner (Fixed Term for Maternity Cover) - 29.6 hours per week - 4 days
> Late shift for both roles will be Wednesday, 11:00am - 7:00pm
> These are primarily on campus, in-person roles
We particularly encourage applications from practitioners who come from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities, as we are currently under-represented in this area, although all appointments will be made on merit.
