We are based within the Universal Services Department, as our core business relates to highways and transport, however the skills we offer cover many aspects of civil engineering design and construction. The team provide design, project management and financial/contract management services from the early stages of a project through to supervision of the actual construction. The team also checks designs submitted from private developers, provide professional advice on a range of engineering activities and oversee the specification of design standards and construction materials used on the highways in Hampshire. Hampshire Engineering Services also manage all highway bridges and retaining structures in Hampshire as part of the County Council’s asset management responsibilities as highway authority, working closely with our Term Highways Contractor. Civil Engineering Technicians provide technical support to Engineers to: Help identify suitable solutions for junction arrangements and highway improvements associated with new developments.  Audit designs submitted by developers to ensure the designs meet required design standards.  Carry out site inspections to determine suitability of proposed works within the Highway. These projects could be for new bypasses, bus priority corridors, motorway/trunk road interchanges, changes to existing highway junctions or new development roads. What you’ll do: As part of the Highway Development Agreements team, you will help ensure that highway schemes proposed by private developers (associated with retail/industrial parks and residential developments) meet Hampshire County Council standards. You will be involved in a vast range of engineering aspects including highways, structures and drainage, playing a key role in ensuring the integrity of the works to be adopted.What we’re looking for: You need relevant formal qualifications (GCSE) including English & Math and Communication Level 2.
