Location: Marischal College, Broad Street, AberdeenDuration: Permanent, Full Time Roles that require PVG Membership Please note that with effect from 1 April , where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30, and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £31, per annum / £17.31 per hour) The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment. Job purpose/about the role As part of the Capital Cluster within the City Regeneration & Environment Function the purpose of this role is to deliver a full professional quantity surveying service within the Public Buildings – Design Team which includes architectural, quantity surveying and clerks of works inspection services to deliver construction works carried out on public buildings for the City Council.  The post holder will be able to work independently, with minimal supervision and shall demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely with a diverse range for individuals. They shall display a strong focus on delivering a high standard of customer service and shall demonstrate a positive approach to work.  The post holder needs to hold as a minimum: Degree or equivalent in appropriate technical discipline. Full membership of the RICS.  The postholder is able to demonstrate: Ability to deputise for the Senior Quantity Surveyor. Working within a multi professional design team environment. Monitoring budgets and undertaking cost forecasts. Managing projects and programmes effectively on time and on budget. Contractor management. Consultant management. Using oral and written methods effectively for the communication of information to professionals, elected members and the public. Identifying, organising and using resources effectively to complete tasks. Thinking independently and using innovation to solve problems. Undertaking effective contractual negotiations with confidence. Management of quality processes. Coaching and supporting others. Working on own initiative and as part of a team.
