SEND Teaching Assistant Needed for Immediate Start – Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne Contract: Full-time, long-term Start Date: ASAP or January 2026 Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday–Friday Pay: £–£95 per day (PAYE)We are working with is a vibrant, inclusive school at the heart of the Heaton community, a place where every child is known, supported, and encouraged to do their best. The school is well-regarded for its nurturing ethos, creative curriculum, and commitment to inclusion.We’re working closely with the Headteacher and SENCO to find a skilled SEND Teaching Assistant to join their experienced team. This is a hands-on role supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 who have additional learning needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.What You’ll Be Doing Supporting individual pupils in class and during small group interventions, particularly in literacy, communication, and emotional regulation. Helping to implement and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) alongside the SENCO and class teachers. Using creative, structured strategies to help children engage with learning, whether through sensory tools, visual timetables, or quiet reflection spaces. Promoting positive routines and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day. Encouraging independence and resilience through patient, consistent support. Liaising with parents, outside agencies, and colleagues to ensure joined-up support. About You You’ll already have experience supporting children with additional needs, ideally in a primary setting. You understand that progress looks different for every child, and you know how to celebrate those small but important wins.We’re looking for someone who: Is calm under pressure and able to think on their feet. Has a compassionate, practical approach to behaviour support. Enjoys working collaboratively in a busy, community-minded school. Holds (or is working towards) a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. Has an enhanced DBS check or is happy to obtain one through us.
