A Band 8b clinical/counselling psychologist is needed in a specialist NHS forensic service for our client based in London Requirements: Hold a relevant qualification at the doctorate level Be HCPC Registered Have experience working within a similar setting Have strong communication and listening skills Responsibilities: The Forensic Intellectual and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities offers specialist forensic consultation and care for service users in the community with learning disabilities and/or autism who are at risk of coming into contact with the criminal justice system; an explicit focus is on supporting the timely discharge of service users from the forensic inpatients units into the community.The post holder will provide clinical leadership in the FIND team, and specifically in relation to a team of therapists (including Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Arts Therapists, Drug and Alcohol Practitioners, and Family Therapists). At the strategic level, the post involves developing relationships across a wide system of services, and collaborating with both inpatient forensic services, and learning disability and autism community services as well as other relevant community organisations. Direct clinical work involves providing specialist and comprehensive psychological assessments and psychological interventions to a number of identified service users and their families through individual and group interventions. A significant proportion of the work also involves consultation to partner organisation, as well as training and educational activities. Band 8b psychologists across the service are responsible for the supervision and line management of more junior qualified psychologists and for supervising assistant psychologists and trainees and students from training course with established links to the forensic directorate. They also provide visible leadership and presence within the Forensic Service in relation to autism and/or intellectual disability. They are involved in service development and take up strategic roles in relation to service objectives as required. They take a lead role in planning, delivering, and evaluating highly specialist therapeutic group programmes and reflective practice for other teams. They undertake a range of other leadership and management activities in line with their level of seniority. What next?
