Job Title: Class 2 Winter Maintenance Gritter DriverLocation: Drayton Oxfordshire, OX14 We are currently recruiting Class 2 Winter Maintenance Gritter Drivers for our client based in Drayton, OX14 in Oxfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to earn guaranteed standby pay throughout the winter season, plus additional call-out rates when required. Job Role Standby Gritter Driver (Class 2) Key Details Guaranteed Standby Payment: £241.37 per week PAYE Adv (Friday AM to Friday AM) Call-out Pay: 5 hours at £21.25 per hour PAYE Adv, when called in to work Paid Training: One day theory + one day practical to obtain a Winter Ticket Contract: Zero-hours contract Contract Period: 1st December 2025 – 28th March 2026 Working Hours: Weather-dependent, maximum 5 hours gritting per shift with a 1-hour break. Possible 2 shifts in a 24-hour period (with a 10-hour rest between). Onboarding: Digital handbook via app; digi card to be downloaded weekly on site for compliance PPE Provided: Trousers, jackets, high-vis, hard hat, gloves (boots available if required) Operation: Runs 24/7 during winter months Daily Briefing: 11:00 am meeting to assess weather actions; call-outs may occur at short notice (early mornings or late evenings) Important Notes Once committed, you cannot undertake other driving duties while on standby between December and March. All work is carried out on tachographs. Training dates will be confirmed in advance. Trainers get booked quickly during the winter period, so early confirmation is essential. You must live within 1 hour of the site to ensure you can attend promptly when called, even in severe weather conditions, site address is: Drayton OX14. This position is commutable from Abingdon, Didcot, Oxford, and other surrounding areas Next Steps A brief face-to-face interview with our client.
