Business Development Manager - Ocean Freight

Location: Norway

Job Description: As a Business Development Manager specialising in ocean freight, you will play a critical role in driving business growth and expanding this companies market presence in Norway. You will leverage your expertise in the logistics industry to develop and execute strategic sales plans, targeting various verticals to achieve and exceed sales targets. This is a varied role that requires a sales and hunting mindset, coupled with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve and exceed sales targets for ocean freight services. Identify and pursue new business opportunities across all verticals within the logistics industry. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions. Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction. Prepare and present compelling sales proposals, quotations, and contracts to clients. Negotiate terms and conditions with clients to secure profitable deals. Monitor and report on sales performance, providing regular updates to senior management. Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking activities to enhance market visibility and generate leads.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 4 years of experience in sales within the logistics industry, with a focus on ocean freight. Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets. Strong sales and hunting mindset with the ability to identify and capitalise on new business opportunities. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with clients and key stakeholders. Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Proficiency in using CRM software and other sales tools.

Preferred Attributes:

Knowledge of the Norwegian logistics market and its key players. Experience in selling across multiple verticals within the logistics industry. Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
