We’re supporting specialist and mainstream SEN settings across Gateshead who are looking for dedicated, adaptable SEN Teachers to join their teams.If you’re calm under pressure, passionate about meeting pupils where they are, and love seeing progress in all its shapes and sizes, then this could be your next meaningful move.About the roleYou’ll be working in nurturing, well-supported SEN provisions that support pupils with: Autism and communication needsSEMH and behavioural challengesComplex learning needs or medical requirementsCognition and learning delays Your days might include leading small-group learning, planning creative lessons tailored to pupil needs, and working closely with TAs, therapists and the SENCO to make learning feel safe and accessible.Requirements for a SEND teacher QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)Experience working in a classroom setting, ideally with SEND pupilsA nurturing, consistent approach and plenty of enthusiasmConfidence working alongside TAs, therapists, and SENCOsHave a genuine passion to support children with SEN needs. What you’ll be doing as a SEND Teacher Planning and delivering tailored lessons that meet pupils exactly where they areCreating calm, structured learning spaces that help pupils feel safe and ready to learnAdapting the curriculum to suit a wide range of needs, from autism and SEMH to complex learning needsBuilding trusted relationships with pupils who rely on consistent, steady adultsWorking closely with TAs, therapists, SENCOs and pastoral teams to join up supportUsing clear communication and visual strategies to support understandingSupporting emotional regulation and wellbeing throughout the dayLeading small-group work and 1:1 activities to build confidence and independenceKeeping accurate, helpful records that inform planning and EHCP reviewsTalking with parents and carers to ensure everyone is working as a teamBringing patience, creativity and resilience to every lessonModelling a calm, dependable presence that helps pupils thrive Why choose Protocol Education?
