If you’re experienced in leading engineering efforts without necessarily owning the detailed design work—and can influence processes, engage customers, and drive product delivery alongside commercial teams—this could be the ideal role for you. The position is based in Northamptonshire and offered on a hybrid basis.What You’ll Be Doing:Leading systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle—from bids and proposals through to architecture, verification, and deliveryActing as a technical lead without needing to own detailed design—coordinating across RF, hardware, software, and mechanical disciplinesCollaborating with commercial and customer-facing teams to support technical discussions and refine system-level solutionsShaping and improving engineering processes, documentation and design reviewsFlowing down high-level customer requirements into actionable system architecture and ensuring the technical solution meets expectationsGuiding trade-offs, reviewing designs and documentation, and ensuring successful delivery across cross-functional teamsYou’ll Thrive If You Have:Experience in systems engineering, ideally within secure communications, defence technology, or similar environmentsA solid grasp of systems engineering principles including requirements capture, architecture, verification and interface managementStrong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities with the ability to see the bigger pictureConfidence working independently as well as guiding and collaborating with multidisciplinary teamsExperience in working closely with commercial and bid teamsA passion for improving processes and driving delivery
